Evaluation of Land Capability and Land Use Direction In the Krueng Peusangan Hilir Sub-watershed, Bireuen Regency

The destruction of forests in watershed areas has now become a concern many parties, resulting floods, landslides, and droughts that continue to increase. Watershed damage is accelerated by increased utilization natural resources due population growth economic development, conflicts interest, lack integration between sectors the upstream-middle-downstream areas. For this reason, it necessary assess land capability so development follows class. research was carried out Krueng Peusangan Hilir Sub-watershed, Bireuen Regency, Aceh, Indonesia, from October 2021 February 2022, which geographically located at 95°58''00” - 96°52''00” East Longitude 5°06''00- 5°17 ''00" North Latitude. Land use study dominated dry agriculture, covering an area 19,100.28 ha with topography 0-8% 25-40%. A survey method analyzing classes site for each map unit (LMU) comparing conditions evaluation Hockensmith Steele’s criteria (overlaid determined thematic maps). result shows soil erodibility decreased linearly increasing organic matter soil. Soils high content have erodibility. limiting factor on slopes found II, III, IV, VI class categories are all LMUs, if these LMUs used agricultural cultivation, conservation measures needed, such as making mound terraces or canal terraces, planting strips using mulch. results show consisted 16668.30 II class, 4184.06 III 4524.91 IV 190.79 inhibiting (medium – very high) (wavy rather steep)
